Very friendly and nice ladies behind the bar. Great service! One even remembered my name from my first visit over a week ago. The specials are worth trying. Pleasantly comfortable homey environment. Would have sports on the tv where everyone can gather around to watch. Quick access to the bar for refills. Parking on the side of the establishment.

On an info sheet given me by a colleague about the Huntingdon area, he pointed out the Black Bull with a notation reading simply "good pies." He wasn't kidding. This is a great example of a typical small-town British pub, and it's got the ale and cuisine to back it up.
The atmosphere is nothing special, an old structure that's been updated a few times, still a bit shabby but in a quaint and homey way. The bartender who came to be our waitress was extremely nice, putting up with a group of Americans asking a lot of basic questions about the unfamiliar food. My steak and ale pie with chunky chips was first-rate with a solid cask ale to wash it down, and the sticky toffee pudding was rich and delicious. It's a little tricky to get to without a car since it's not near Huntingdon, but if you're in the area it's worth seeking out. I'll wager you won't find a better pie in Cambridgeshire! -

I first came here in 2011, and suggested having lunch here with friends on a recent trip. It was just as I remembered, if not better. I had the steak & ale pie, with peas, and fries (ok, chips). Delicious! But what really makes this a five star experience is the atmosphere.

Took my family here for their Sunday Roast. Wow. Great food and great service. I'll be going here again.
